Our Beliefs

Crossroad's Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error, preserved by God and given to the world.  The Bible is the authority on which we base our faith, conduct and doctrine not to be added to or taken away from.  The Bible is the basis for all we believe. (Proverbs 30:5; Matthew 4:4; John 1:1; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Revelation 22: 18-19)

God

We believe in one living and true God.  He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We believe God created the universe and all that is within it by His Power and Word.  He is all-knowing, all-powerful and ever-present.  (Genesis 1:1)

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, virgin born, sinless in life and mighty in words and deeds.  He was sent by God, the Father into this world to save sinners.  We believe that Jesus Christ, while on earth, was fully God and fully man.  He surrendered nothing of His deity during His earthly life.  We believe that Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins and was bodily raised on the third day from the dead.  He then ascended to His Father's side where He is the head of the Church and intercedes for believers.  We believe Jesus Christ is coming again personally, visibly and bodily to reign as Lord.  (John 1:1-5; Matthew 1:18-23, Mark 15)

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is a person, is God and has all the divine characteristics.  He is manifested and dwells in all believers, baptizes and seals them at the moment of salvation.  The Holy Spirit teaches us to love and worship God, empowers us to follow Jesus and equips us to serve Him.  The Holy Spirit executes God's Will in the world.  (Luke 3:16; John 15-19, John 14:26; Acts 1:8)

Salvation

We believe that Jesus, through His death on the cross and resurrection, provided atonement for sin and salvation for all.  To receive salvation, one must admit being a sinner, ask for forgiveness of sins and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.  We believe that once you have received the gift of salvation, it cannot be lost or taken from you.  All who have received Christ will at death depart to be with Christ in spirit and at Christ's return receive a new body which will be like His glorious body.  (John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 4:12)

The Church

We believe a New Testament church is a local body of believers who have agreed together to worship Jesus Christ, edify the belivers, evangelize the lost and minister to the world.  The Church has two ordinances:  Baptism and the Lord's Supper. (1 Corinthians 1:17; 1 Corinthians 12: 14-31; Revelation 2:5)
